[KITlist-Tech] Literacy Product Manager (Palo Alto, CA)

This is a contract position. In this role, the right candidate will plan and manage the delivery of our Literacy products - helping those with disabilities and learning difficulties access the information they need for education, employment and social inclusion.

The product manager will define product requirements and roadmap planning, execution, implementation and ongoing support. This position interfaces with operations, marketing and the software development team(s) to ensure achievement of business goals and objectives. As the product manager, this role represents the interests of our clients, ensuring products and services meet the needs for literacy and access.

Benetech´s Literacy Program includes Bookshare the largest online digital library of copyrighted books, newspapers and magazines available to print-disabled individuals in the U.S. and internationally. A significant award from the U.S. Department of Education mandates access to Bookshare´s content and supporting assistive technology to all students in the United States for free - as funded by the award. The Program also now encompasses three new projects:
1. Route 66 Literacy,
2. Bookaccess and
3. the DIAGRAM Center for accessible images and graphics

Responsibilities Include
• Act as champion of Literacy products and components, from product requirement specifications to general availability
• Define and maintain the product roadmap through collaboration with engineering, Literacy senior staff, clients and volunteers.
• Define and document product requirements (PRD) and business logic for Literacy products, including integration/tracking of grant/award objectives
• Coordinate prioritization and product requirements
• Drive product projects, like kick off releases, prioritize bug fixes and new features, maintain the long term roadmap
• Track and analyze metrics on progress to goals and objectives
• Work with vendors in integrating Benetech requirements

We Require
• Bachelor´s degree
• 8 years product management experience
• Min. 5 years enterprise software product management experience, with experience writing PRDs and a track-record of leading software products
• Experience with enterprise technology platforms, Agile development concepts, User Interface Design, wire frames and interaction design, collaborative documentation tools and web-based bug and feature tracking systems
