Based in San Jose, California, USA, our Communications Business Unit (CBU) is seeking a Technical Marketing Manager for the Global Embedded Solutions Business.
Reporting to the Head of Global Embedded Solutions, the Technical Marketing Manager will be responsible for key technical management initiatives that will expand Symmetricom's Embedded Software product portfolio.
As a core member of the Marketing team, this role will have worldwide responsibility for creating and communicating Symmetricoms value proposition by clearly articulating the technical advantages of the solutions and supporting customer designs from concept through production. The Technical Marketing Manager will work closely with Product Management, Product Marketing, Applications Enginering, and Sales.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
-Working with the customer at their design stage to provide suggestions/recommendations of the best solution from Symmetricom's various solution offerings.
-Working with ecosystem partners to define technical requirements for the partnership and follow through to the delivery.
-Analyzing Customer requirements and targeted platform evaluations
-Supporting customers on technical issues related to integration and verification
-Writing industry technical white papers and application notes, developing technical positioning documents and articles promoting Symmetricom's solution capabilities and how they meet and exceed customer/market expectations
-Developing effective customer facing, technical, pre-sales content (whitepapers, sales tools, solution briefs, videos, etc...).
-Supporting the field in technical pre-sales situations, as well as leading technical sales training
Essential Qualifications:
-Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
-5+ years of experience in a Technical Marketing, Sales Engineering, Field Applications or Factory Applications Engineer role.
-Proven Knowledge of Packet network time synchronization protocols, such as NTP and IEEE-1588 and Telecom protocols and technologies such as E1, T1, ATM, Frame Relay
-Hands on experience in system level integration and/or software development in embedded and networking environments.
-Demonstrated ability to understand hardware subsystems, interfaces and hardware debugging as it relates to system design
-Proven knowledge & understanding of various wireless, telecom and data-com technologies such as: CDMA, UMTS (W-CDMA), WiMAX, LTE FDD / TDD, etc.
-Familiar with various network equipments (base station, switch, routers, aggregation devices, access devices, mobile backhaul devices, DSLAM)
-Proactive work style, self-motivated, able to work independently and take initiative
-Excellent communication skills, customer facing experience and availability to travel
Desired Qualifications:
-Prior experience developing embedded system products for telecommunications or network equipment technology companies
-Good understanding of components used in sync solutions (oscillator, timestamper, DDS, PLL, frequency synthesizer, DCO).
-Experience in wireless communication systems and networks
-Knowledge of embedded development environment and tool chain
-Prior experience working cross culturally yielding clear understanding of the nuances in multinational markets and customer design support.
