This is a senior engineering role at an early stage, fast-paced Silicon Valley start-up in the video infrastructure space. Our Senior Web Applications Engineer will be responsible for implementing a massively scalable cloud video application backend and frontend which will be accessed from laptops, mobile, tablet and specialized embedded devices. Responsibilities include:
· Design and implement scalable web software frontend and backend
· Work with a global team of engineers and provide technical leadership if necessary
Required Skills:
BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering
· 7+ years of commercial software development including 5+ years building scalable Internet-facing web/cloud applications
· Extensive experience programming in Python and/or Java
· Experience programming in MVC frameworks like Django, Spring.
· Experience building multi-tier scalable distributed infrastructure with load balancing, caching, message queues/RPCs, multi-pop deployments.
· Experience with HTML5, Javascript, CSS, and browser-side frameworks like JQuery
· The following optional requirements would be a plus:
· Prior experience working with a global team of engineers
· Experience building mobile applications on iPhone/iPad or Android
· Experience building Flash/Flex applications to enhance traditional web app functionality
· Experience in building web-based applications in the collaboration space such as VOIP, chat, web conferencing and instant messaging
· Implementation and deployment experience in cloud compute environments such as Amazon EC2, Rackspace, etc.
