Web Infrastructure Engineer
San Francisco, CA
We're changing the way business does social media, and are fanatical about creating a product that's elegant, useful, and ultimately makes our customers very happy. We're a small company in that great stage of gaining massive momentum, and are looking for a creative, get-it-done web infrastructure engineer to join our passionate team.

Pri-0:
Proven experience actually shipping software
Figure things out on-the-fly and under pressure
Preference for writing code to manual sysadmining (but can do both)
Experience in distributed queueing/processing systems, like MapReduce, crawlers, RabbitMQ, etc.
Deep understanding of HTTP + DNS, SSL, caching, and load balancing
Knowledge of strace, lsof, and /proc
Understanding of how pointers and virtual memory work, even if you don't write C every day
Sense of humor (everyone says this, but we really mean it)

Pri-1:
BS or Masters Computer Science
Around 3-5 years experience in this field
Have read things like Managing Gigabytes, Building Scalable Web Sites, and High Performance MySQL

Your typical day might include:
Red Bull
Growing, scaling, and improving our distributed data-ingestion pipeline
Building "customer-facing backend" features for data storage, retrieval and analysis
Building internal tools for monitoring, deployment, metrics, and operations
Free lunch
Debugging datacenter, network, and machine issues and automating detection and future fixes
Creating and maintaining documentation (don't worry, it's just the wiki)
