We´re looking for a Senior Web Application Administrator who will be responsible for deployment/installation, configuration, performance, tuning and maintenance including fault tolerance, clustering and stability of ROR and PHP application servers and other software products and proprietary applications. This person will troubleshoot application issues and support the application development cycle involved with application design, deploying code, and resolving any infrastructure problems. Other duties include monitoring production environment, tuning ROR/PHP application servers to optimize performance, reinstalling all middle-tier products, participating in production problem calls, stabilizing and improving performance both in the application layer as well as the database layer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Administrator for the installation, configuration, performance, tuning and maintenance of ROR/PHP application servers on Linux platforms.
• Troubleshoot application issues and support the application development cycle involved with application design, deploying code, and resolving any infrastructure problems.
• Monitoring production environment, tuning application servers to optimize performance, reinstalling all Middleware products during lease replacements, participating in production problem calls, stabilizing and improving performance.
• Assist with day to day management of a Production web application environment based on Linux and open source technologies.
• Use best practices to setup and maintain a secure computing environment.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Experience managing production deployments.
• 4/5 years of experience in Apache, PHP, ROR.
• Good understanding of PHP and ROR applications.
• Proven experience with Linux system administration.
• 5+ years of experience with supporting Linux in a production web environment.
• Experience administering linux based database servers.
• Be a technical "Jack of all trades".
• Has to be reliable and will follow through on tasks.
• Solid understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP and HTTP.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• BA/BS or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a fast paced, early stage company.
