Job Description & Responsibilities:
As part of the CTO's office in DSSG, identify and lead validation of datacenter concepts that align with Cisco strategy. You will leverage your significant technical expertise in related areas (see below) to conceive, develop, and demonstrate new capabilities that incorporate Cisco technologies. These developments will inform ongoing Cisco strategy and execution plans.
As a senior individual contributor, you will apply your industry-recognized technical expert:
- identify and extend relevant datacenter switching architectures
- identify/invent approaches to differentiate these architectures
- lead the validation of these new concepts, with the cooperation of team members and partners (both internal and external)
- actively participate in cross-functional company execution projects
You will also be expected to demonstrate thought leadership and suggest/drive concept development in new areas (e.g. application frameworks, other service delivery models).
Candidate Profile, Skills and Qualifications:
This role requires a high degree of expertise, flexibility, and breadth along multiple dimensions, including:
- industry-recognized technical expertise/experience
- both conceptual and hands-on (e.g. prototype) development abilities
- excellent communication and partnering skills/instincts
- ability to translate high-level goals to requirements, and integrate new technologies and approaches as needed to meet these requirements
• Industry-recognized demonstrated expertise in the following technology areas: virtualization, automation, highly-scalable systems
• Experience and strong working knowledge of networking technologies – L2/L3, control protocols, management
• Strong understanding of cloud computing market drivers, requirements, and industry offerings
• Requires 10+ years experience, preferably combined with an advanced degree in EE, computer science or mathematics
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation and collaboration skills. Must be capable of successfully presenting to a variety of audiences (e.g. executive, highly technical)
• Committed to remaining on the "leading edge" of knowledge in the overall datacenter switching space, while helping Cisco achieve a leading role in this new market opportunity
• Must have an open style and an instinct to collaborate. Must be flexible and willing to shift focus based on business requirements. Must be self-motivated, and actively seek feedback.
