Title: - Software Engineer: Diagnostics Development
Duration: - 6months
Work Schedule: Full Time with OT (up to 50 hrs/week)
Location: - Sunnyvale
Type: W2 (with Medical and basic insurance)
Job Description:
This contract position in the diagnostic software development team is for an experienced software engineer, responsible for development of client hardware diagnostic tests, tools, and infrastructure.
Duties:
-The contract engineer will participate in design, and development of new diagnostic tests, utilities and infrastructure.
-The engineer will be expected to produce functional and design specifications, and implement new diagnostic functionality as required by client hardware developers.
- This role requires active participation in development activities including architecture definition, design specification development, software implementation, debugging, and testing.
-The engineer would necessarily work collaboratively and alongside other software and hardware engineers who are located in various states.
- Travel will likely be required as needed up to 20%.
Skills:
The primary requirements of this contract position include detailed knowledge and programming experience in development of:
• Computer hardware diagnostics
• Linux operating system internals and drivers
• Computer hardware and software architecture
• Strong understanding of Intel, AMD, and MIPS system architectures and chipsets, and I/O bus protocols
The candidate must demonstrate strong C language programming skills and proficiency in C++, Perl, and Python. The candidate must also have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Any engineering experience in the following areas is a strong plus:
• Linux bring-up on early hardware
• Computer storage technologies
• Interfaces of BIOS to the Linux Kernel
• EFI
• computer networking interfaces
Education and Experience:
• BS/MS CS or EE, and 8+ years of experience.
• Proven industry experience in software engineering development for multiple complex technical projects.
