We have an immediate opportunity in our Silicon Valley headquarters for a Vice President of Development and Operations to join our dynamic leadership team. This role will require an individual to lead all aspects of the application development and application hosting functions for the company including software development, IT operations, technical architecture, quality assurance, project management, and staff development, as well as being a key contributor to company strategy and direction.

Responsibilities:

•Direct the development and delivery of commercially successfully software products and new versions. Plan product releases and deliver to agreed-upon schedule in cooperation with product management. Direct the product development organization so products are released on schedule and with low defect rates. Maximize development productivity, creativity, and enthusiasm.
•Define and ensure that best practices are implemented within the product development organization so that company goals are supported. Strategize with staff to fully utilize software development methodologies and implement tactical plans to achieve objectives. Responsible for the company's Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
•Direct and grow hosted operations (offsite data center) for maximum flexibility, uptime, customer satisfaction, and cost effectiveness.
•Create and maintain the IT strategy, vision, and goals for the organization and ensure the goals are aligned to business goals.
•Direct the day-to-day management of Project Management and Quality Assurance, ensuring the on-time delivery of scheduled projects. Develop specific project plans and monitor implementation progress on plan rollouts.
•Evaluate systems and manage costs. Identify opportunities to maximize resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, in-house development, and contracted services. Determine which external suppliers/vendors will provide the most appropriate and cost effective services to meet business needs.
•Set long-term and near-term continuous service improvement and efficiency goals for the organization.
•Cooperate with other organizations in the company (Customer Services, Product Management, Sales, and Finance) to ensure that product, service, and support issues are resolved pro-actively and expeditiously.
•Evolve company strategy and culture in concert with other executives.
•Lead in the establishment of department goals and implement procedures and performance standards to achieve these goals; manage, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the activities of department staff directly or through your managers.
•Drive staffing, employee development, retention and organizational effectiveness in alignment with corporate budgetary objectives and business plans. Provide mentoring as a cornerstone of career development for direct reports.
•Responsible for the employment, promotion, performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling, and discipline of department employees.

Qualifications:

•Ability to recruit, retain and develop top talent
•Demonstrated leadership, staff management, team-building and coaching skills.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with strong analytical, problem solving and customer service skills.
•Articulate and persuasive with excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate IT related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
•Able to think ahead to develop and implement long-term vision, strategies and plans.
•Able to work well in a fast-paced, changing environment, able to deliver multiple products and complete multiple projects on time and within budget.
•Strong software architecture skills
•Excellent communication skills, both at a technical and executive level
•Ability to aggressively focus and prioritize
•Strong creative problem solving capabilities

Experience / Education:

•10 or more years of experience in increasingly responsible software development management/leadership positions including:
o Managing multiple priorities simultaneously and delivering multiple applications/products on time
o Experience with dispersed operating locations with centralized IT systems; experience managing off shore vendors and project partners
•Minimum 5-7 years executive management experience with extensive experience interacting with senior and executive management and managing development budgets
•Master's degree preferred, bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent education or equivalent experience required. Extensive experience with the Agile software development methodologies and SaaS environments in a rapidly growing environment.
•Tenacious, good humored, diplomatic and helpful
•Able to identify problems, resolve escalations (including collaborating with others when necessary), act decisively and show good judgment. Able to gain sponsorship and consensus on key initiatives
•Built teams that produce great results and respect your leadership.

Success Metrics:
•Release products on time, on budget, with agreed upon functionality.
•Meet budget and headcount constraints
•No unplanned downtime on SaaS sites
