The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on all aspects of sustaining efforts of existing manufactured products and directly interface with the Contract Manufacturer. This position will also be involved with supporting new product introduction and transition into production volume. The critical skills required in this position is the ability to support production of electrical printed circuit board assemblies, Test and debug abilities for Root cause failure analysis, Documentation, Electrical and Mechanical hardware Functional Test development and support, Implementation of Process controls, and all aspects for Design for manufacturing principals to insure high reliability, low cost, high volume complex electro-mechanical products.
In this position, the individual will interact will all interdepartmental teams as required for production support and NPDI processes. The individual will be responsible to review and provide concrete inputs on all product documentation, (BOM's, electrical schematics, test and assembly procedures, mechanical drawing, assembly drawing and process instructions) to insure they are complete and accurate to support the suppliers and CM's. Individual must be hands-on and able work with internal and external electrical, test and mechanical design sources, (local and remote) as well as providing timely feedback to improve ease of manufacturing, lower cost, and improve reliability.
Responsible Manufacturing engineer must have a sound knowledge of medium volume production manufacturing of printed circuit boards, metal machining, (desired experience with Die Cast, RPM, and SLA processes). This position requires the Manufacturing Engineer to be able to identify, recommend and qualify new suppliers and sources for a variety of components, processes and Mechanical components.
Job Duties:
• Support production by providing adequate test functionality of all levels of the product (ICT, Functional and top level Test). Improvements in production Capacity, Yield, Product quality, and reduction in test time.
• Evaluate current documentation for accuracy and sound design practices as well as support the prototype and production ramp up process.
• Support the Design and Test team by working with the Suppliers to provide early prototypes, Alpha and Beta Hardware to meet product qualification.
• Support the Suppliers with production ramp up to full production volume.
• Work closely with the Materials team to meet production schedule – including First Article approval, production ramp up and support as required.
• Review design inputs, (electrical, PCA, mechanical drawings complete assemblies) and provide clear and concise documentation for the CM to carry out the manufacturing processes.
• Provide formal documentation processed through ECO's, deviations or product waivers. All documentation must be adequately clear for the CM's to use without support.
• Make product or reliability improvements based on feedback from the suppliers, DFM, DFT, Yield reports, assembly/ test process defect information as well as RMA and field data feedback.
• Support for the products will require interaction with the Design Engineering team and material team as required supporting updates and changes to the hardware or SW.
• Support various outside suppliers and vendors to deliver parts and subassemblies to meet delivery deadlines.
• Support supplier evaluations and qualification as required
• Support the selection of new suppliers that will enhance improved product quality, reliability and lower cost.

Job Requirements:
• BS in Electrical Engineering and /or Manufacturing or equivalent.
• Hands-on tool building, verification, and testing experience.
• Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including the ability to understand circuit schematics and troubleshoot electronic assemblies.
• Minimum 5 years experience in all aspects of the manufacturing process.
• Recent experience with introduction of new product introduction.
• Experience working in the RF or GPS technology fields.
• MS Office software (Visio, MS Project, Power Point, Word & Excel).
• Bonus: Familiarity with mechanical '3-D' modeling software.
