Real-time Systems Engineer, Big Data

Skyline is working with a dynamic startup in the Big Data space focused on delivering cloud-based predictive analytics to mid to large B2C enterprises. The company is backed by a premier venture firm and is located in Santa Clara.

Does this sound like you?

-Experience in developing large-scale real-time data collection or decision delivery systems, e.g. as a part of an ad server or personalization/recommendation server with low latency, high availability and scalability requirements.
-Strong problem solving skills, deep algorithms and data structure knowledge and a desire to excel in your work.
-Comfortable working alongside strong systems peers and work closely with data mining scientists.
-Comfortable working in a fast paced development environment with responsibilities including:

• Developing real-time targeting and data collection system as a multi-tenant platform
• Working closely with product management, sciences and engineering leads to understand the requirements and architecture in order to build the product iteratively.
• Ownership of building the unit test cases and working with QA to deliver to production.
• Production ownership to run initial releases of the system.
• Ownership for high quality on-time delivery in a fast paced development environment.

Your background includes:

• 5+ years experience developing systems using C++ or server side Java required
• Understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques, and software development in a team environment required
• Experience in development of real-time systems such as a real-time data collection system, ad server or a recommendation/personalization server highly desirable
• Experience with HBase, Membase and related open source technologies desirable
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• MS/BS in Computer Science
