Front‐End Software Engineer

We are looking for a Front‐End Software Engineer with a balance of technical and creative skills to join our
engineering team. Someone with strong fundamental CS knowledge (data structures, algorithms) and a
true passion for user interface development – but most importantly, we need someone with a
demonstrated ability to understand both the possibilities and constraints of web applications and large
data problems. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of front end design patterns
and techniques, and have developed and delivered well structured browser‐based applications using HTML,
CSS and JavaScript.
Responsibilities:
 Create brilliant front end components for MarkLogic products.
 Work closely with UX, engineering, product management, and marketing teams to translate aesthetic
vision into successful interactive browser‐based applications.
 Work as part of a team and participate in engineering life cycle of the full product.


Qualifications:


 Demonstrated hands on experience developing commercial or open source products within a well
defined software development life cycle in a team environment
 Bachelor´s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field, or equivalent
work experience with 5+ years experience and a track record of delivering browser‐based applications
 Understanding of end‐to‐end web architecture, including REST, URI's and common data formats and a
strong understanding of current design patterns and best practices
 Expertise designing and developing browser‐based applications using JavaScript and JavaScript libraries
(like jQuery or Dojo or YUI) and Ajax
 Good working knowledge of XML, HTML,CSS, HTTP, REST, JSON
 Excel at communicating and collaborating with internal and external communities
 A thorough understanding of how to structure and unit test their code, and experience collaborating on
a team and participating in code reviews
Nice to have:
 Experience with jQuery
 Experience with automated testing of browser apps (e.g., Selenium)
 Experience with JavaScript charting and visualization libraries
