Sr. MTS - VC Server Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Job Description:
VMware´s vCenter Server team is seeking a strong software engineer to participate in the design and implementation of the next generation architecture. As the vSphere product support for cloud evolves and an ecosystem of solutions grows around it, a new architecture is needed to handle the software lifecycle management needs of thousands of hosts and millions of virtual machines. If working on large real-world distributed systems problems, anticipating future customer requirements and delivering them on an aggressive schedule motivates you, then this job is for you.

Responsibilities:
• Design and develop the next generation vCenter Server, the core control and systems-management software for VMware´s virtualization products
• Work with UI engineers and usability specialists to provide the appropriate abstractions for exposing the underlying concepts in the physical and virtual infrastructure
• Work with QA engineers and ensure software testability, quality and stability

Requirements:
• 5+ years of software development experience
• A solid foundation in computer science, with deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multi-thread programming, and software design
• Experience developing client-server or distributed applications in C++, C or Java
• Strong object-oriented skills
• Application /middleware experience
• Experience in building systems-management and monitoring applications a big plus
• Understanding of system architecture, including processors, storage and networking is highly desirable
• Comfortable developing for both the Windows and Linux environments
• Excellent communication skills and must be able to interface with customers as necessary
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputable university
