Job Description

Cresta Partners, a leading executive search firm serving small to mid-size technology companies, is conducting a retained search for a Director of Engineering, Analytics for our client in San Francisco.

Our client has built and deployed the world´s leading mobile application analytics and data-powered advertising platform and is currently developing more ground breaking services. Their products increase the size and value of mobile application audiences.

The successful candidate must have an outstanding track record with demonstrated results. S/he must be high energy and possess a results and metrics driven mindset and a strong passion for gaming.

They are looking for an energetic hands-on Director of Engineering to lead their analytics team. The lucky candidate must have experience running agile development teams and building large-scale applications.

Be part of an enormously fast-paced but disciplined software engineering team in our San Francisco office that is driven and takes pride in releasing quality products. Our client is funded by some of the most outstanding venture capital firms in Silicon Valley.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Leading a team of brilliant engineers doing releases every 2 weeks
• Speaking at relevant Big Data conferences
• Coordinate with product management to set a roadmap and milestones
• Performing statistical analysis to derive new metrics and insights into our data warehouse. This requires both mathematical modeling and efficient algorithm development to build analytics across a vast data set.
• Spending time building new features for Analytics on terabytes of data using Hadoop/HBase in a massive cluster currently about 600 nodes
• Investigating and implementing new data visualization approaches to complex data sets. Much of the data is multi-dimensional and complex and needs to be used by people unfamiliar with complex data sets. Creating new and easy ways to understand visualizations will be a key part of your role.
• Working on the newest mobile platforms before they are available to the general population. Our client works with an ever-growing list of mobile platforms and is always at the forefront of handling new developments in mobile platforms.
• Coordinating the release planning for your team and running code reviews to ensure quality
• Interviewing and hiring other great developers to join our team
No slouches, this person must have a startup "go for it" mentality! This position absolutely requires a person who loves statistics and mathematics. Be part of a winning company that has taken the mobile application analytics and data-powered advertising platforms to the next level.

Skills
Our client is seeking a strong candidate who has both start-up and large company experience.
• BSCE or related field; MS a plus.
• 4+ years' experience building highly scalable and reliable applications.
• 2+ years as an engineering team lead for teams of at least 5 developers
• Expertise in statistical analysis and data visualization
• Experience with Linux, MySQL, multithreaded programming.
• Experience with Ruby and/or Scala and/or Clojure and/or JavaScript, JSP, CSS, HTML, AJAX.
• Experience working at a growth-stage startup company

Key Pluses:
• Experience with Hadoop or Hbase
