[KITlist-Tech] WebSphere Portal Developer with WCM Experience (SF Bay Area, CA)

Astute Business Solutions is looking for a WebSphere Portal and WebSphere Content Management (WCM) Advanced Developer. Responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of the IBM Websphere Portal & WCM (Web Content Management) application supporting the production intranet sites, in an UNIX environment. (i.e. AIX, Linux). Will be part of a development team that is enhancing the feature set on the company intranet, IBM portal based system.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for designing, developing and unit test components in a highly iterative and agile manner for IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM WebSphere Web Content Management.
• S/he will also be responsible for Design and Development of JSR168, JSR286 portlets, servlets, JSPs and deploying the same to IBM WebSphere Environment.
• Responsible for writing Data access components using Java/JDBC and Spring and Hibernate
• Create Themes, Personalization, and Single Sign On Integration and integrate portlets.
• Quickly learn and come up to speed in a new environment and follow standards.
• Responsible for coordinating with team members to achieve desired results and possible mentoring of junior programmers whenever there is a need.
• Proactively identifying issues in development and bring up the same to the attention of tech lead or management attention at the very early stages. Ability to learn from team mates and solving issues quickly with the help of more knowledgeable team mates in that technology.
• Will follow change management and incident procedures and policies as defined.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor´s degree in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Eight or more years of technical experience in a client-server / web technology environment.
• Extensive Portal/WCM version 5.1/6.X experience required, with preference of 6.1.X and 7.X preferred with both development and administrative experience.
• Hands on experience in JSR 168 and JSR 286 compliant, portlet design and development, preferably in an IBM portal environment – 2 to 4 years.
• Hands on experience in developing Templates, Workflows and Customizations for IBM WebSphere Content Management System. – 2 to 4 years.
• Strong experience with Java, J2EE web application design, development of servlets, jsps, JSTL and good understanding of MVC framework – minimum 4 years.
• Strong experience in coding unit tests with JUNIT.
• Experience with Java script , html, XML and CSS in support of web application development
• Experience with design and development of data access component in Java with SQL knowledge
• Experience using IDEs like Eclipse, IBM RAD and IBM WebSphere Application Server.
• Performance, tuning and debugging of all software issues with IBM WebSphere Portal v6 v7, IBM Web Content Management v6, v7 and IBM Websphere Application Server v6 v7 IBM.
• Troubleshooting, developing, deploying and supporting the applications on WebSphere Portal and Websphere Content Management (WCM).
• Must have an intimate understanding of how portlet applications are assembled and deployed in JSR168 and JSR 270 standard.
• Expertise in writing XMLAccess scripts and using other mechanisms for migrating configuration and content between portal systems.
• Aside from solid web development skills, the candidate filling this position must have experience with test driven develop (TDD) techniques and have the demeanor and communication skills required for pair programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with IBM Websphere Portal 7 and WCM 7.
• Experience upgrading from Portal /WCM 6.0+ to Portal/WCM 6.1.5 or 7.0
• DB2 database application design and development experience preferred. (Strong Oracle and MS experience may suffice).
• Experience working with IBM Technical Support.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong ability to lead and work as part of a team.
• Working with offshore resources
