* leading, recommending, developing, testing, implementing, supporting, securing and monitoring of all workstations and administrative functions necessary for their efficient management and operations in the enterprise. The development of standards for workstations (hardware, operating system, and core applications), development of deployment and troubleshooting standards.
* Responsible for the development, testing, distribution, and maintenance of client operating system images that incorporate various applications including office automation software, browsers, and business application software, backup, anti-spyware and anti-virus agents.
* Additional responsibilities include regular maintenance, patch management, and additional software updates as needed.
* Maintenance and operation of servers that support client management, anti-virus, and remote management tools, maintenance of hardware and software license inventories, patch management and upgrades (both operating system and application software). This task will also encompass all Windows based servers in the enterprise.
* Responsible for overall documentation/procedures related to the supported environment and its administrative and applications.
* Is responsible for the management and monitoring of the remote software distribution process.
* Employs appropriate anti-virus software and security measures appropriate in protecting the enterprise environment against viruses and other security threats.
* Provides 3rd level support for Service Desk and Technical Services staff
* Responsible for monitoring and/or mentoring the work of team members.
Skills
MCSE certification or equivalent experience required. Other certifications (MCSA, A+, Network+, etc.) desirable.
* Minimum 5 years experience with HP servers and Microsoft Windows 2003 servers, familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3 or SQL Server 2005 is a plus.
* Change configuration and support for both the Altiris DS and NS servers.
* Working knowledge of hardware and software to include: assembly and testing of workstations and peripherals, installation and configuration of backup software, antivirus software, network operating systems, file servers, print servers, webservers, browsers, database servers, and client software.
* Install and maintain Altiris clients in an enterprise-wide environment (2000+ nodes) and manage an Altiris Server infrastructure (includes scheduled maintenance, backup and optimization).
