[KITlist-Tech] From Sue: New links to free KIT List event next Weds. 9/29

Hello Everyone,

I've had feedback from some of you who are having trouble with the Evite link I provided in yesterday's invitation to the KIT List "friendworking" mixer for this Wednesday, 9/29, at 6:00 p.m. at Bistro 412 in Palo Alto. I'm including the original email with the details below, too.

Your friends are welcome -- this is not limited to KIT List members. Recruiters and employers will be there as well as other job seekers.

Please do RSVP via the Evite, since it's important to know the actual numbers attending. Keep trying, thanks!

Here are various ways to get to the Evite:

If that link doesn't work, you can cut and paste this into your browser: http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/PKKWDJVJDVTJPLDFPQYN/KITLIST As another method, you can cut and paste this link: http://www.evite.com/pages/invite/viewInvite.jsp?event=PKKWDJVJDVTJPLDFPQYN&inviteId=BTSZFGYGNVNTBVHTWFNW&showPreview=false&x=172667082 Here's my email from yesterday:
Hello Everyone,

I've been wanting to do this for a long time! This is an informal meet-up to provide a fun way for KIT List folks to meet, share job and career ideas, get encouraged and have some fun.

While the job search process can be an isolating experience, this is a great way we can use the power of friends helping friends and "Friendwork." Since the word "networking" can seem uncomfortable or cold, the "Friendwork" idea is much more personal. You come with the attitude of giving and helping others, even if you are looking for a job yourself, and it makes what would be awkward into a positive experience. Hey, a stranger is a friend you just haven't met yet!

There is NO CHARGE for this event, but you will need to pay for your own drinks or food directly to Bistro 412.

The weather should be nice and warm next week, and Bistro 412 has a large patio area in back that we can fill up nicely (they have heat lamps, too!). This is where I had the SGI Reunion I organized last week, so it's definitely a good place for friends to mix and mingle.

Also, we will collect a voluntary donation at the door of $10 (or whatever amount you wish) for the Red Cross to benefit the San Bruno fire victims. With the generous spirit of the people on the KIT List, this would be a nice way to help our neighbors who were struck by this tragedy.

Please RSVP using this Evite link:
