Encoding Systems Contractor
Location: Los Angeles, CA

Job Description:

The Encoding Systems Contractor will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and validation of the systems infrastructure, storage and backup roadmap for our video encoding network. Responsibilities will include day to day administration, engineering, short and long term strategic planning and management, as well as other duties as assigned. 
Responsibilities:
 
*         Install, configure, maintain, support and manage Microsoft Windows servers and workstations used for manipulating video assets and transcoding source files to multiple video file formats.
*         Install, configure, maintain, support and manage Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2008 servers  including Active Directory Domain Controllers and Microsoft Domain Name Servers [DNS] *         Perform root cause analysis on persistent or major server related hardware, software,network & application related problems.
*         Manage, maintain and support anti-virus, tape backup and storage infrastructure.
*         Participate in on call rotation and respond to emergencies 7/24/365.
 
Job Requirements:
 
Minimum Education Requirements:
*         High School Diploma required.  College work / degree in Computer Science / Engineering preferred.  Technical certifications (MCSE, CCNA, etc.) desired.
 
Experience Requirements:
*         2 years of direct engineering and systems administration experience.
*         Experience with antivirus solutions, RAID and server hardware.
*         Basic knowledge of Active Directory (AD), domain controllers, Microsoft Active Directory, IT processes and procedures, security, and systems implementations.
*         Familiarity with virtualization products such as ESXi, Virtual Server, XenServer, etc..
*         Experience managing large storage systems such as Isilon and Blue Arc.
 
Preferred Previous Experience:
Hands-on experience using transcoding software such as Rhozet Carbon Coder, Fathom InletHD, Adobe Premiere and Digital Rapids Transcode Manager Experience with digital video systems including architectures and equipment such as digital video capture cards, multiplexers, head-end equipment, and digital video servers and video storage.
Knowledge of digital video systems and protocols such as MPEG, AVI, and AVCHD. Experience integrating and configuring digital ingestion systems.  Working knowledge of various capture cards including Blackmagic, and AJA.
Experience with various tape machines including HDCAM, HDCAM SR, D5, Dbeta, and familiarity with file based DDR servers.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
 
*         Experience in configuring, securing, managing and maintaining a highly available Windows 2000/2003/2008 active directory based environment.
*         Basic experience with performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery planning.
*         Strong interpersonal skills needed to team well with peers, customers, project managers, and vendors.
*         Ability to work independently with little supervision.
*         Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
*         Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary to support *         7/24/365 environments.  *         Travel may be required.
