Our client is a small, very hot, entrepreneurial software company gaining market share and recognition from vendors for their cutting edge solutions which help companies migrate to the cloud environment. This company recently received an award from a leading vendor for their innovative product offerings and offers game-changing, disruptive technology that is gaining attention from many enterprise customers. Based upon their expansion and growth we are now seeking candidates with successful pre-sales software experience selling IT operations type solutions for this exciting opportunity:
Position title: Field Engineer/System Engineer/Sales Engineer
Locations: Bay area California, Austin Texas, and Chicago Illinois areas
Position summary:
The Field Engineer//System Engineer/Sales Engineer works as a member of the sales team to provide pre-sales technical support during the sales cycle, including demonstrating company technology, managing software evaluations with prospective customers, and overcoming technical sales objections.
Position responsibilities:
· Perform technical product demonstrations for prospective customers or users
· Assist in the sales qualification process of prospective customers and lead potential technology evaluation projects
· Provide technical assistance to customers throughout the evaluation. This will include:
o Technology installation
o Basic customer training
o Technical account management
o Documentation and tracking the evaluation's progress
o Presentation of results
· Assist Engineering and QA with testing of new software releases, reporting customer feedback, and submitting feature requests
· Occasionally provide post-sales customer implementation services
· Ability to periodically provide post-sales formal customer training
Required skills:
· 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Well organized, self-motivated, driven, and personable
· Must have experience provisioning and managing Microsoft Windows systems and applications at large scale, especially:
o .Net application deployment
o System Center Configuration Manager and System Management Server
o Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) packaging
· Experience with packaging software in multiple programming languages, including .Net, C, Java, Python, and Perl
· Exposure to Virtualization and Cloud Computing
· Familiarity with Linux system administration, packaging technologies (RPM, Conary, etc.), application deployment, and systems management a plus
· Ability to travel throughout geographic territory as necessary
· Bachelors degree
Candidates of interest are those that have current/recent experience in the areas of data center automation/control, enterprise IT management, enterprise automation, network configuration, network change software, network management/performance management etc. at companies such as H-P/Opsware, BMC/Bladelogic, IBM/Tivoli, Computer Associates(Spectrum product), Quest Software, Altiris, Sun Microsystems(N1 product), Novell/SUSE, mValent, Stratavia, Avocent, Surgient, etc. or others in this space.
