As a Senior Application Database Engineer you will play a leading role in designing and implementing key database components for the web application platform supporting the QualysGuard on-demand security service. If you have a flair and passion for architecting enterprise grade SaaS Database solutions, this is your chance to work in the rapidly expanding field of computer security, in a pre-IPO company with excellent customer ratings and outstanding growth rates.


Responsibilities:
Design and deliver highly optimized and scalable database solutions using Oracle database to the QualysGuard multi-tenant platform. Work with cross-functional groups to understand performance and scalability requirements. Work very closely with the application development team to design database changes, review performance plans for high impact queries and use query tuning techniques to optimize queries. You will work in a fast paced startup environment and collaborate with other senior members on architectural design decisions. You will work with and mentor junior team members to help them improve application-database interaction . The ideal candidate will have deep understanding and experience in performance and scalability of web applications and be aware of new trends in database technologies to bring them into the platform. You will work with operations team to roll out Oracle RAC solution.


Qualifications:

7-10 years experience in Oracle database design
Programming experience with PHP or Java is required.
2 – 3 years as a lead or senior engineer is must.
Proven track record in Oracle query analysis and tuning.
Good understand of application database frameworks/libraries like Hibernate, JDBC, ADODB and oci
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field


Additional Plus Competencies:

Experience with Oracle RAC
Background in working with high volume, multi-tenant, HA database clusters
