Sr Network Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
• Leads and Assists in complex network designs and configuration projects in association with a cutting-edge, video-streaming platform, across a multi-datacenter, production environment.
• Tier3 support of production network Infrastructure, and occasional engineering network issues.
• Hands-on, assists and leads with physical and logical network design, advanced configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, load-balancers, content-delivery devices, firewall/security devices, and other types of networking equipment.
• Coordinates and executes critical network operations, such as: critical maintenance, migrations, adjustments on the edge with backbone, technology changes/additions in datacenter networks, hardware/software upgrades.
• Analyzes utilization information and participates in network capacity planning.
• Works with Technical Services in establishing monitoring & alarm configurations with new production implementations.
• Assists with NAS configuration production requirements.
• Participates in documenting production infrastructure drawings; Visio
• Participates in development of technical training and documentation
• Develops tools to support on-going network operations.
• Flexible hours and minimal domestic travel likely required.
Qualification:
• Bachelor´s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, physical science, or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in network engineering/operations.
• In-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with a full range of layer 1-7 technologies and protocols (advanced layer2; redundancy protocols, IGMP, multicast, and other routing protocols. Highly proficient in TCP/IP protocol suite, DNS and IP space management.
• Cisco ASA55xx series. VPN and Internet Security knowledge/experience.
• Load balancing: F5 BigIP: LTM/GTM.
• Experience with Windows/Linux (CentOS), servers and Operating Systems. Basic scripting in PHP, Perl, or Unix Shell to help automate routine network management tasks would be helpful.
• Experience with Visio programs to create detailed physical and logical network diagrams.
• Preferred: Experience with NAS
• Preferred: Experience with web services in a server farm infrastructure environment preferred.
• Helpful: Proficient in Datacenter/Site management with Knowledge of Cacti/Nagios monitoring and network management tools, and experience with operational deployment of such systems
• Helpful: Experience with virtualization technologies is a plus. (ie: VMware, Hypervisor, etc.).
• Helpful: Cable Operator network infrastructure experience
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Special Considerations: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Communications and Leadership Requirements: Must be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:
• Excellent verbal and written communication to all levels in the organization – internal and customer
• Ability to lead functional teams in issue management including dealing with internal escalations, outage triage and remediation, with minimal supervision etc.
• Communication of ideas and solutions in a clear and organized manner
• Viewed as a reliable technical resource for others
