Sr. Software Engineer
The Senior Software Engineer provides technical leadership in the area of applications back end infrastructure and Services for the ActiveVideo platform. The role will have broad scope of responsibility for leading the vision, design, and development of the next generation backend application infrastructure and services.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge and expertise in designing and developing highly reliable, highly available and scalable backend infrastructure and services. Excellent communication skills and team-oriented working approach are required to engage and lead the platform development team in next generation development efforts.
Responsibilities and skills:
• Design and Develop application backend infrastructure and services which in-house and 3rd party application developers can leverage in their development
• Develop appropriate programming abstractions and APIs for various backend webservices
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle. Should have experience shipping products as well deploying and supporting services
• Actively participate in the company's technical strategy around application backend infrastructure and services
• Should have extensive knowledge of Java, MySql, LAMP stack. Ruby on rails knowledge is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of tools JUnit, Maven, ANT is required.
• Good debugging and analytical skills
• Good knowledge of design patterns
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong leadership qualities
• Strong technical background and knowledge especially with the major tools and technologies in use at ActiveVideo in the Cable industry video technology space, the IPTV industry video technology space, and the internet video streaming technology space.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in application backend technologies i.e. Java, C++, MySql, LAMP
• Object-oriented programming expertise
• Familiarity the with most common application backend development environments
• Ability to leverage existing technologies and new industry trends to innovate around application development tools and frameworks.
• Strong technology background
• Should be comfortable in a dynamic fast paced environment
• Fast learner with strong computer science background
EDUCATION
• Requires a Bachelors degree in a Computer Science or a related technical field.
