Web Architect
The Web Architect provides technical leadership in the area of web technologies for the ActiveVideo platform, which combines ease of application development in a web-based DHTML/JS environment with rendering of the user experience for those applications on TV through a cable system infrastructure or other IPTV or open internet video streaming environment. The role will have broad scope of responsibility for leading the vision, design, and development of the next generation application development environment, toolsets, and services supporting web applications on the platform.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge and design creativity in the DHTML/JS and AJAX technology areas with the communication skills and team-oriented working approach necessary to engage and lead the platform development team in next generation development efforts.
Responsibilities and skills:
• Develop an application framework which in-house and 3rd party application developers can leverage in their development
• Develop appropriate programming abstractions and APIs for various backend webservices
• Guide the refinement of an application development kit with all of its tools to enable developers to quickly and efficiently create applications
• Own the company technical strategy around application execution and browser technology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong leadership qualities
• Strong technical background and knowledge especially with the major tools and technologies in use at ActiveVideo in the Cable industry video technology space, the IPTV industry video technology space, and the internet video streaming technology space.
• Travel availability up to 25%
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in web-based application technologies around DHTML, Javascript, AJAX, Flash, etc.
• Object-oriented programming expertise, applicable to the Javascript environment
• Familiarity with the most common browser application development environments
• Ability to leverage existing technologies and new industry trends to innovate around application development tools and frameworks.
• Strong technology background
EDUCATION
• Requires a Bachelors degree in a Computer Science or a related technical field.
