Plans, conducts, and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems and applications. Partners with users to identify, evaluate, and develop systems and procedures which are cost effective and meet user requirements. May plan and execute unit, integration, and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements. Designs details of automated systems. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business, systems, or application issues.

Education: 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.

Business Experience: Entry level experience in business analysis, requirements definition and deployment of business requirements to information systems and applications.

Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of business analysis.

We're looking for someone who lives in the Minneapolis area, who originally worked in a clinical laboratory as a "Medical Technologist" and evolved into healthcare I.T as a Requirements Analyst. As a former medical technologist, this individual is probably certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and may place "MLS", "MT", "CLS" (Clinical Laboratory Scientist), "CLS/MT", or "MLT" after their name.

Responsibilities:
The Requirements Analyst will serve as a hybrid functional (clinical) and business analyst, identifying and documenting specifications to support the development of Laboratory Information Systems.

The Requirements Analyst plans, conducts, and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems. The individual will partner with users to identify, evaluate, and develop systems and procedures which are cost effective and meet functional requirements. The individual may plan and execute unit, integration, and acceptance testing. The individual creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements and designs details of automated systems. The individual may lead cross-functional teams to address business or systems issues.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have experience using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS such as Horizon Lab, Sunquest, SCC Soft's Softlab, Cerner, etc) and will have experience identifying hospital laboratory [or reference laboratory experience at LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, etc] functional requirements and solving those business needs using information technology. The ability to identify functional needs, design/document software solutions, and then validate solutions through system testing is required. The ability to be to take initiative and be self-directed, the ability to work within a collaborative environment, and a history of strong communication skills are essential.

Preferred But Not Required:

1. Experience using, implementing, and/or supporting Lab software

2. Experience representing workflows, capturing and communicating requirements, creatively improving laboratory processes.

3. Experience creating software using the Agile/Scrum software development process.
