Nutshell Description:
As VP of Information Technology you will:
• Handle all information systems of a publicly held company
• Will lead the conversion in 2011 of an ERP-type system (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.)
• Manage the IT of multi-global offices including US, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong
• Will lead the IT part of client´s SOX implementation
• Develops the IT strategic plan
• Develops the IT operation plan
• Develops the IT budget
• Develops the IT org chart
• Growth company experience mandatory; ideally you went through private/ public transition.
• Technology company experience mandatory
• Roll-up-the-sleeves, hands-on mandatory. You must know how to fix a problem yourself.
Longer Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
Hands on technology expert for a lean and established leader in entertainment technology needed to determine and implement corporate-wide IT strategy. Work will entail defining clear milestones for immediate resources; working with an outsource provider or deploying an internal IT department to implement long range plans. You will hire and develop your staff to participate in the SOX strategy for all internal client teams; these teams are responsible for developing and maintaining the long term roadmap of pursuing growth for the company. You will implement and create strategy of IT information delivery, IT portfolio management, CRM development, and Business Intelligence. You also will utilize your strong understanding of strategic planning techniques and principals using knowledge of technology architecture theories and implementations, technology solutions and experience with solutions, system Architectures, IT management tools and techniques, Services Oriented Architecture by leading and developing internal applications with Agile methodologies. You will possess enough operations experience sufficient to understand sales, service and in-depth experience with vendor facilitation, management and partnering. And you will need to use your broad experience in estimating cost / benefit analysis, ROI, needs analysis, project scheduling, and evaluation techniques. As the IT expert you will provide consulting support to Sales, Business Development and Product organizations to identify innovative ways to leverage technology in support of client´s products and services while supporting customers. Your role will be to review current industry trends and new technologies, providing guidance and recommendations to senior management. Explore new technologies in coordination with Group and Regional IT for future planning and potential implementation to meet evolving business needs. And use your experience in application systems and data design and deployment methodologies and techniques; including security, Sarbanes- Oxley and infrastructure design and deployment. As VP of IT you will advocate and orchestrate game-changing technology insertion across company divisions and also identify and develop relationships with external partners capable of contributing relevant technologies. Your role will be to represent internal corporate technology to executive team and key decision makers, and participate in formal and informal events. Over time manage the technical staff and provide technical oversight across company´s national and international divisions.
Skills and Experience Required to Succeed
• Masters degree or above in a technical discipline, computer science preferred, but not required, rock star w/ less education, and more experience OK
• Minimum 15 years experience in a technical and/or media or Entertainment Company preferred, public company experience preferred, must have a start-up mentality, able to do everything from A-Z if needed, as there will be little oversight. Minimum 8 years in technical hands on positions, with demonstrated success at functioning within lean, cross-functional / cross-organizational initiatives and bringing them to fruition. Able to command professional and technical respect inside and outside of company. Sarbox expert.
• Experienced in direct management or supervision, and substantial experience in leadership of cross-functional teams. Effective at enlisting support from across the enterprise to achieve business objectives. Hands on recent experience mandatory.
• Able to set and achieve organizational goals, particularly those that drive innovation and transformation.
• Recognized out-of-the-box thinker who is capable of finding innovative information technology solutions for difficult problems, working to convince key stakeholders of their viability, and then driving them to their successful implementation.
• Excellent listening, comprehension, written and verbal communication skills. Must be a highly effective and succinct written and oral communicator with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Strategic thinker whose strategies have been proven out, but who can also convert the strategy into tactics and then execute tactically
• Excellent management skills, ability to interface effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization
• Effective problem solving and analytic skills, able to review multiple data sets and complex situations to generate solutions; willing to adapt as facts / situations change
• International experience highly desirable
• Must be authorized to work in USA along with ability to relocate quickly if necessary and hit the ground running.
