This position serves as a technical resource to support A100, its subsidiaries, correspondent and partner firms and any other organization as directed. The position will help ensure the overall availability of A100´s data centers meet or exceed defined service levels of it´s customers.

The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the Datacenter. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.95% uptime. The Data Center Engineer will continue to maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum, the engineer will drive innovation to reduce operational costs.

The Data Center Engineer will maintain, operate, troubleshoot, Operations Mission Critical Facilities, which includes stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems that include but not limited to switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, wet cell batteries and associated systems, CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, & motors.

Experience and Skills:

* At least five years experience providing senior management and on-call support of multiple data center facilities.

* At least two years experience managing a facilities team and managing outsourced contractors; a natural team leader who can motivate and encourage advancement
* An undergraduate degree in a technical field (EE, MechE, IndustrialE); advanced degree preferred.
* An excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems, including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
* A very good understanding of the compromises between reliability, efficiency and cost.
* Excellent project management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced and hectic work environment, ability to prioritize tasks effectively; and an ability to work seamlessly across organizational boundaries.
* Previous vendor negotiation and management skills for data center and/or upgrade construction contracts.
* An ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with a minimal impact on reliability

Tasks:

* Analyze:

- equipment failures

- equipment to improve performance and reliability

- heat transfer

- vibration


* Design Solutions for a Data Center including but not limited to:

- machines that manufacture and package all varieties of products

- rotating equipment - pumps, compressors, blowers, turbo-machinery

- pressure vessels - heat exchangers, boilers

- storage tanks

- piping systems

- HVAC/air handling systems

- Electrical distribution systems


* Testing:

- Test quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, processes


* Develop:

- Algorithms for data analysis and trending. Constraint based modeling and web monitoring tools

Conclusion:

In addition to general facility management this individual will be responsible for providing leadership and project management duties. Of the projects this person may be involved in capital upgrades of existing facilities as well as aiding in the design and building of new facilities. He/she will lead efforts between architecture, technical, negotiation, and other teams within A100 to develop specifications, designs, and cost estimates for future data center projects. This individual will continue to maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum.
