As the evangelist you will drive awareness and adoption of the product line in the emerging Big Data Analytics market among current and prospective Hadoop developers and users, Java developers, and database analysts. You are an articulate expert on the technology and will help establish a "community" around the company. The role will be the "voice" of the user community to the company; providing feedback on their needs to product management, marketing and executives. You'll work with prospects, partners, users and industry forums – in person and online – to help potential users understand how to enhance their Big Data projects using company products. This role reports directly to the CMO.
Requirements
• Four year Computer Science degree from an accredited college or university is essential
• 8 years experience in one or more of the following areas; sales engineering, product management, technical marketing, technical training, system integration/consulting.
• Technology evangelism experience desirable.
• Familiarity with enterprise data processing architectures including RDBMS, EDW, SQL and BI products
• Technically proficient with hands-on experience with programming languages including Java, open source technologies and databases
• Knowledge and understanding of Hadoop and MapReduce beneficial
• Demonstrable effectiveness working in an ambassadorial role to technical communities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to effectively communicate about technologies, products and business solutions to audiences large and small
• Strong people skills… charismatic and empathetic
• Engaging presenter, effective with both business and technical audiences
• Able to convey / explain complex concepts in a simple and easy to understand way
• Highly organized, with ability to identify priorities and handle shifting needs
• Travel up to 30% of the time
