Server Systems Product Engineer:
- Provide Operations engineering support for Harmonic's array of server based digital video products (storage arrays, transcoders, network management platforms, etc) through all phases of product development and manufacturing life cycles.
- Perform debug and failure analysis at both the system level and the component level.
- Coordinate and manage new product introduction schedule and activities.
- Work closely with R&D and Contract Manufacturers during the prototype phase and initial production release to identify and resolve design, manufacturing, and test issues.
- Drive DFx, debug, failure analysis, reliability, qualification, and yield enhancement activities during all phases of the product life cycle.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of new product manufacturing processes and train manufacturing staff.
- Work closely with R&D and Test Engineers to drive requirements and resolve manufacturing/test issues.
- Communicate technical product and project status to management.
- Create Test Procedures, Manufacturing processes, and Manufacturing Instructions.
- Define product structures, bill of materials, and release into Agile (product lifecycle management (PLM) system).
- Travel 3 – 4 times a year to visit and work with Harmonic's Contract Manufacturers.
Experience Required
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent (MS Preferred)
- 5+ years of product engineering experience working with server based products in an OEM environment. Storage systems experience required, preferably in the video industry
- Detailed understanding of diagnostics, product test, failure analysis, and debug techniques in digital circuits.
- Demonstrated ability of successfully transitioning products from R&D into volume production.
- Demonstrated ability of planning & executing product quality testing including ORT & RDT.
- Server test development experience strongly desired
Skills Required
- Self starter with strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
- Works well in a team environment and alone.
- Ability to work cross functionally across Operations, R&D, Customer Support, and Product Management organizations.
- Has ability to adapt to the changing needs of a project.
- Has ability and desire to meet deadlines.
- Broad experience in OS management
* Image creation
* Licensing issues,
* SLP/BIOS management
* Field recovery strategies
- Video industry experience preferred
* Storage experience a must
* Encode/transcode highly desirable
- Fundamental understanding of server industry players and trends
- BOM/WBS definition experience needed as well as fundamental understanding of how this relates to SCM, cost structure and order fulfillment
